Regarding Jan

This sabbatical is at Muse Lodge, in the foothills of the Adirondacks in upstate NY. It starts at noon on Monday, August 19 and ends at noon on Friday, August 23. The time will be largely your own, though we will meet for common meals at lunch and dinner. I will facilitate a daily circle that will last approximately an hour, where I will share a reading and a teaching. During the week, I will meet with each woman for an hour individually. We will explore whatever you choose to explore. During the week, I will also take a one-of-a-kind photograph of you that reflects the part of you you want others to see.

Other than that, you are free to kayak, swim, watch loons, walk in the woods, nap, read, photograph nature. Probably the need for a field trip will erupt and some of us will go off on an adventure for photographs and ice cream.

You will have your own bedroom, unless you want to share with a partner. You will go home rested, excited, and fully optimistic about creating your life as YOU want it. Himalayan changes will take place in your quiet depths. By the end of the week, everyone of us will be feeling some kind of magic that calls for a ceremony. We will create that ritual together. You will never forget this week as long as you live.

Our stories define us. They affect our well-being, our relationships, our present and our future. They are vehicles of energy, vessels of possibility. They contain infinite potential and we can harness light and great power from the experiences of our lives. Our bodies are waiting to be tapped for their wisdom, gained from every ordeal we have suffered or encountered. Every catastrophe has stripped us of something and given us something. The nakedness, we know. The gifts are yet to be unearthed.

In this circle of women, we will revisit our threshold experiences, our decisive moments and pivotal events and re-view them through a lens of emotional clarity and compassion. We will experience the deep listening of others as we share our stories, hear the narrative arc, define the crisis and revisit the resolution. We will see our role in co-creating the event and the narrative, and we will reconsider the telling from a place of power.

Using music, video, poetry and writing, we will evolve ourselves beyond dualistic thinking and enter into a mindset of oneness and gratitude. We will work deeply with our own bodies and their intimacy with the natural world, tapping into the reservoirs of wisdom that are available to us. We will experience the energetic changes that accompany a change of story, and discover the healing capacity embedded in every story.

This retreat includes food, lodging and plenty of time for kayaking, swimming, hiking and photographing on Lake Bonaparte, in the Adirondack foothills. A fabulous opportunity to get back to your center, to experience the joy of community, the awe of ritual, the sound of sisterhood. (limited to six women)

Cost is $695. (starts Thursday with dinner, ends Sunday with brunch) Click here to register.
